The USK Flag Flies to Space for the Third Time
On October 8, 2025, the flag of the United States of Kerban (USK) reached space for the third time, flying aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard NS-36 as part of the Flag to Space Project 2025.The flight marked five years since the first USK flag entered orbit on the Cygnus NG-14 mission to the International Space Station in 2020. This latest mission carried a flag signed by young people and space enthusiasts, representing curiosity, unity, and the belief that space exploration belongs to everyone. The Flag to Space Project 2025 was initiated by Peter Štefánik, SERA commercial astronaut candidate, as part of his outreach efforts to inspire the next generation and promote education in science and space-related fields. Each signature on the flag stands as a reminder that exploration and inspiration can transcend borders and reach beyond Earth.

The Flag to Space Project is an educational and outreach initiative dedicated to inspiring young people to pursue careers in science, technology, and space exploration. The 2025 mission was made possible through Blue Origin’s Club for the Future and its Postcards to Space program, which provides an opportunity for students and organizations around the world to send symbolic items to space and back aboard New Shepard.Through this collaboration, the United States of Kerban continues to promote international cooperation and public engagement in the peaceful exploration of space.
USK Moves Toward Becoming the First Micronation with an Astronaut
The United States of Kerban (USK) is entering a historic phase as it pursues representation in human spaceflight through an astronaut candidacy within the Space Exploration & Research Agency. This step reflects the nation’s long-standing focus on innovation, technology, and its ambition to take part in humanity’s expansion beyond Earth. From its foundation, the USK has embraced space exploration as a core vision. The current candidacy of Peter Štefánik marks a significant move from concept to action—demonstrating that even a micronation can aim to participate in one of the most advanced fields of human achievement. Beyond individual success, this effort positions the USK on an international stage, highlighting its commitment to progress and global cooperation. If successful, it would place the United States of Kerban among the very first micronations to achieve direct involvement in human spaceflight. At the same time, this milestone serves a broader purpose: to inspire future generations to pursue science, engineering, and exploration. The USK continues to build toward a future where its presence is not only recognized on Earth, but also beyond it.
